Gov. Diri Defies Rain to Inspect Key Development Projects Across Bayelsa

In a determined show of leadership and commitment to infrastructure development, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Thursday braved heavy rains to inspect several ongoing projects across the state.

Governor Diri, accompanied by the Leader of the Bayelsa State House of AssemblyRt. Hon. Monday Bubou Obolo, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Moses Teibowei, and other top officials, began his inspection tour at Angiama community, where he assessed the progress on the 630-metre bridge across the River Nun. The vital link connects Angiama to Oporoma, the headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, and Otuan community.

The governor also drove on the already asphalted sections of the road leading to Oporoma and Otuan, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to improve rural connectivity and open up neglected areas.

Other key sites visited during the tour included the Angiama-Eniwari road project, the Polaku-Sabagreia road and bridge, and the massive 25,000-capacity stadium under construction in Igbogene.

Governor Diri also inspected the Glory Drive Phase 3, the Imgbi Link Bridge, the state’s landmark 9-storey Secretariat building, and the strategic road linking the New Yenagoa City to the Amassoma-Airport road.

Speaking after the inspections, Governor Diri expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the various sites. He commended the contractors for their efforts so far and urged them to maintain momentum to ensure timely completion of the projects.

"I am impressed with the progress of work so far, trusting that our various contractors will deliver their respective projects on schedule for the use of the good people of the state," the governor said.

The inspection comes as part of Governor Diri’s ongoing efforts to ensure accountability, transparency, and effective delivery of infrastructural projects under his Prosperity Administration.
