The Governor of Taraba state, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has cautioned traditional rulers in the state against unapproved actions such as indiscriminate sales of land and issuance of consent letters to illegal miners.

The Governor gave the warning this Thursday at a meeting with traditional rulers at the Exco chamber, TY Danjuma House, Jalingo, where the meeting also discussed issues concerning their roles in the state.

Addressing the traditional rulers, the Governor emphasised the importance of the traditional rulers' role in promoting peace, stability and community development.

He reminded them of their responsibility to protect their communities and serve as a bridge between the government and the people.

The Governor frowns at indiscriminate sales of land, illegal mining, issuance of consent letters to illegal miners, indiscriminate appointment of Ardos and issuance of titles, which undermine the law.

He urged them to protect their community with vigour, seek government approval before the appointment of Ardos and the issuance of traditional titles, and promote dialogue, peace and stability.

The Governor announced plans to review the conduct of traditional rulers, with those found wanting facing consequences according to the law.
