Gov. Bala Pledges Swift Intervention on Collapsed Bridge at ATBU

Bauchi State Government has pledged immediate intervention on the collapsed bridge at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

The State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed gave the assurance, Wednesday, when he led top government officials and heads of security agencies in the State on a condolence visit to the management of the university.

The Governor, who spoke through the Speaker, State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abubakar Sulaiman, said that the visit is to assess the areas that required urgent attention.

While sympathizing with the management of the university over the incident, Governor Bala Mohammed prayed for the soul of the students who lost their lives.

Receiving the government officials at the Council Chamber of the University, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Abdulaziz who expressed gratitude to the State Government for its immediate action, said so far 3 students were confirmed dead, while  no one is missing.

The Vice Chancellor said that already the university management has constituted a high powered committee to work out modalities towards averting the reoccurrence of the incident.

Adamu Ahmed Itas, who is the SUG President in the university, described the State Government's intervention as a welcome development.
