Imo State Govt. Partners British Council

Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has stated his administration’s commitment to elevate arts and culture in the State.

The Governor stated this during the ‘Creative Industry Seminar’ organised by the British Council in Owerri, the State capital.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Chijioke Nzekwe, Ihedioha said that the State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture was created to harness the potential in the creative industry.

“It (Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture) was not there before now. That will tell you the commitment of His Excellency in his 'Rebuild Imo Agenda' ".

“Various agencies and parastatals under arts and culture have been streamlined. The government is intended to reorganise the creative, comparative, competitive miles strategy of the sector by looking at the whole assets put together".

The Governor called on investors to take advantage of the unique geographical location of the State to harness the gains.

“Endowments of the State in this sector are unbelievable. The population of our people in music, Nollywood, dance, etc. is enormous".

“The revenue that will be generated in this sector will be comparable with the rich oil nations in the world”, he added.
