Fintiri Reaffirms His Commitment To Adamawa's Workers' Welfare
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Wednesday, directed that the financial pay implications of leave grant transportation allowances to Local Government workers in the state be compiled for further action.
When the Governor received state officials of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, in audience at Government House, Yola, on Wednesday, he gave the directive.
He also stated that his administration has changed the way State Government employees receive their leave transportation grant allowance, which will now be paid along with their monthly salary.
Fintiri stated that the government is working to implement a minimum wage for Local Government employees in the state, within the constraints of available resources, and to ensure their prompt promotion and capacity building.
He emphasized that the administration was able to revive the Local Government Councils that had been in a coma, and that the spirit would be preserved.
The Governor reassured the officials that the current administration is committed to changing the negative narratives, particularly in the civil service system, because workers are a priority for them.
Governor Umaru Fintiri had earlier thanked NULGE State President, Comrade Hammaljulde Gatugel, for appointing five of their members as Secretaries of Local Government transition committees.
Comrade Gatugel expressed his gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support for NULGE, as well as his administration's support and loyalty.
He called for the promotion of Local Government employees and the payment of the minimum wage, as well as the appointment of qualified members as permanent secretaries, to be implemented as soon as possible.
