Attack on Gov. Fintiri's administration by the opposition not constructive - Kumangar
The Special Counsel to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State on Media and Publicity, Solomon Kumangar, has described as unfortunate the attack on the Gov. Fintiri-led administration by the opposition, All Progressive Congress, in the state over the recent 21 council chairpersons inaugurated by the Governor to act for three months pending the conduct of council polls.
Recalling that the Organizing Secretary of APC, through a press statement recently, described as illegal the appointment of the 21 Local Government Transition Committee chairpersons, the opposition party also called for their immediate dissolution.
Kumangar said it is sad that while the people of Adamawa in general, including the APC, were happy over the recent council chairpersons appointed by the governor, Mustapa Atiku that has remained silent over the plight of the local government for years under the last administration, would now come out to criticize the proactive actions taken to strengthen local government under the current administration.
“Ordinarily, the PDP in the state decided not to react to the antics of the sinking APC, but it is good to put the notion in a better perspective for public interest”, he added.
Kumangar said it is embarrassing and illogical for APC to think of nothing rather than playing politics with the issue of governance in the state.
“While diverse people across Nigeria irrespective of party affiliation, state, faith, including international organizations are hailing and supporting the measures taken by the Fintiri-led administration in tackling the age-long decadence left behind by previous government in Adamawa State and the welfare of local government staff, it is disheartening that our brothers in APC have opted to be parallel by choosing to politicize governance matters."
“I want to urge them to show patriotism as citizens of Adamawa, where we choose to work collectively for peace and progress by supporting the process and bringing their contributions to the Governor in reorganizing the local governments."
“I don’t see anything wrong appointing caretaker committees by the governor, if APC as a political party could not see anything wrong in caretaker which is not alien to their constitution, I see no reason why they are crying wolf over Transition Committees in Adamawa, as what is good for the geese is good for the gander,” Kumangar said.
He urged the people of Adamawa and other stakeholders, including the opposition members of the APC, to support the present administration towards its positive transformation, in line with Fintiri’s 11-point agenda and the 25-year transformation plan for more dividends of democracy to the good people of the state.
