Ometan, Okpe LGA Tanker Explosion: PDP Governors Condole with H.E. Sheriff Oborevwori

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, PDP-GF, under the chairmanship of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed CON, the Governor of Bauchi State, and on behalf of the member Governors commiserates with His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, the Government and the good people of Delta State, especially the families of the deceased identified from the unfortunate tanker explosion that  occured on Friday, May 3, 2024 at Ometan Community in Okpe Local Government Area of the State.


2. The Forum laments this unfortunate loss of souls and property in yet another tanker explosion in Delta State, just too soon after the recent April 26, 2024 incident in the neighboring Rivers State.

3. We advocate for a safer mode of conveyance of petroleum products and wholeheartedly give the Government and people of Delta State out total support at this moment and always.

4. The impact is heart breaking and from the available reports,  it was visibly avoidable, hence, our call for stricter monitoring by the relevant traffic authorities to ensure that drivers comply with safety codes to avert a reoccurrence.

Gov. Diri Assures On South South Campus Of NJI

 Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has said his administration will do its best to ensure the South South campus of the National Judicial Institute (NJI) is sited in the state. Governor Diri gave the assurance on Wednesday when the House of Representatives Committee on Judiciary led by Hon. Oluwole Oke paid a courtesy visit to Government House, Yenagoa. He said siting the NJI in Bayelsa will complement the campus of the Nigeria Law School in Yenagoa.  He promised members of the committee of his government’s support to achieve the reforms required of the justice system in the country, particularly as they carry out their oversight function in the state.  Diri called on his former colleagues to bring their wealth of experience to bear in addressing the challenges bedeviling the judiciary and tasked them to proffer solutions at the end of their tour.
