PDP Governors' Forum Commiserates with Governor Siminalayi Fubara Over East West Road Carnage
- urges Government and Support Agencies to quickly intervene
The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF), under the Chairmanship of H.E. Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (CON), the Governor of Bauchi State, extends heartfelt sympathy on behalf of all member-Governors to H.E. Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, Vice Chairman of the Forum/Governor of Rivers State and the good people of the State for the regrettable loss of lives and properties resulting from the carnage on April 27, 2024, that engulfed several ill-fated commuters on the East West Road along the Indorama-Petrochemical-Aleto axis, and which by the Almighty Father's grace equally spared some injured survivors now seeking succour and rehabilitation.
2. The Forum is saddened by this painful loss, impacting not only the Government and the people of Rivers State but also the entire country.
3. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of victims who lost their beloved ones, even those yet to be identified, as we pray that all survivors who sustained various levels of injuries and material losses would have a speedy recovery and due compensation, respectively, from the trauma.
4. We express our call for quick intervention on the reconstruction of this road by the Federal Government to prevent a reoccurrence of the gory sights witnessed there at Eleme, or elsewhere in the country.
5. The Forum hopefully envisages a Federal Government policy review to reduce bureaucracy by approving quick interventions by host State governments where needed on similar impassable FG roads which in reality stagnate progress and threaten the safety of lives and properties of its citizens.
6. Finally, the Forum deeply consoles everyone involved, directly and indirectly, and assure the Government and people of Rivers State of its unwavering support always.
