Plateau State Governor to Establish State into Hub for Medical Tourism; Seeks Collaborative Efforts with Security Agencies for Sustainable Peace

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has outlined his administration's ambitious plans to position Plateau as a leading hub for medical tourism within Nigeria. He emphasized the favorable climate and the hospitable nature of its people as pivotal elements in realizing this vision.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang  also advocated increased funding for federal health institutions in the state to address the nationwide issue of healthcare professionals seeking opportunities abroad, thereby enhancing healthcare standards not only within Plateau but across the nation.

During a courtesy visit by members of the House of Representatives Committee on Health Institutions at the Old Government House Rayfield, Governor Mutfwang reiterated his commitment to establishing additional Teaching Hospitals to improve doctor-to-patient ratios.

He expressed regrets that bureaucratic hurdles were delaying the launch of the Dental Department at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and called for prompt action to rectify the situation.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang  highlighted the vital role of oversight functions by the National Assembly and said it ensures proper allocation and utilization of funds, particularly for underfunded institutions like JUTH.

The Governor also received in audience, some heads of security agencies in the state. They are the Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos, AIG Adebowale William, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDS, David Abi and the State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina who all pledged their support to Governor Mutfwang's administration in promoting peace, security, and unity in the state. 

Responding, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude for their commitment to keeping the state safe and stressed the importance of collective efforts in combating criminal and terrorist activities.
