Nsit Atai, Ibesikpo Asutan Agog as Gov Eno Splashes Food Items
As Local Government Areas take delivery of rice and garri palliatives in their respective localities, Akwa Ibom people have heaped praises on Governor Umo Eno for ensuring a transparent process that has enabled them benefit from the gesture.
The State took delivery of 24 thousand bags of rice from the Federal Government but Governor Eno doubled it to 48,000 bags of rice to the entire gazetted villages across the ten federal constituencies, with each village getting 20 bags of rice and two bags of garri.
The distribution exercise was witnessed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr. Essien Ndueso, who lauded the chairmen for diligently following the directives of the Governor.
Performing the distribution at Nsit Atai, the Transition Committee Chairman Lady Emem Ibanga, expressed gratitude to the Governor and the Federal Government for putting smiles on the faces of people.
She thanked God for the privilege, and welcomed the initiative, stating that it was not the first time Governor Eno was reaching out to the people in such manner.
Lady Ibanga emphasized that the distribution process would be transparent, with village heads, village council officers instructed on their roles.
Additionally, she encouraged everyone to take the Governor's "back to farm" initiative seriously, highlighting the importance of self-sufficiency in food production.
In their respective comments; a woman leader, Christiana Sunday Udo, thanked the Governor for his kind gesture and prayed for God’s blessings upon him and his team members.
Chief Mfon Essien of Odot 2 and chairman of council of chiefs in Nsit Atai pledged to ensure that the kind gesture of the Governor in providing the food items is felt by all his subjects.
The village head of Ikot Akpabio on behalf of other village heads expressed happiness towards the bags of rice and garri given by the Federal and State Governments to curb hunger in the state.
At Ibesikpo Asutan, the transition chairman, Mrs. Akon Michael, said the process was smoothly carried with all the 79 villages getting their share and thanked Governor Eno for displaying compassion to the people.
“It is not the first time as they have been collecting rice from the State Governor and they are happy with our Governor."
Some village heads in Ibesikpo Asutan, including Eteidung Emmanuel James and Eteidung Idiong Okon Usanga promised to mobilize support from his people for the Governor in return for his kind gestures.
