Zamfara State to Domesticate National Gender Policy
Governor Dauda Lawal has expressed the willingness of the Zamfara State Government under his administration to review and domesticate the National Gender Policy, to align with the domestic laws, norms and cultural beliefs of Zamfara State.
The Governor who was ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Mohammed Nakwada, stated this in the Government House, Gusau while addressing the Advocacy Nigeria who were on courtesy call on Thursday.
Advocacy Nigeria is a non-governmental organization working to promote the voice of women in governance and development, including reducing maternal mortality and advocating for girl-child education.
Nakwada highlighted that Governor Lawal's administration has already taken a bold step in reducing the maternal mortality rate by declaring a state of emergency in the health sector, signifying his commitment to overhaul the healthcare system in the state which will positively affect the state's maternal mortality indices.
Earlier in her remarks, the Executive Director of the Advocacy Nigeria, Honourable Saudatu Sani, thanked Governor Dauda Lawal for giving them audience, adding that this is the first time ever that any Governor of Zamfara State grants them audience.
