The Gwoza Bombings: Our Hearts Bleed; Our Resolve Unshaken

On behalf of the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, Governor of Bauchi State, we write to commiserate with His Excellency, Professor Baba Gana Zulum, and the Government and People of Borno State on the recent bomb blast in Gwoza Local Government of the state that reportedly led to the loss of 30 lives with many as 100 others injured.

We also commiserate with His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at whose desk the buck for arresting the unremitting nationwide insecurity and putting an end to the killing fields stops.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families who have lost dear ones to the wicked acts of these terrorists whose stock-in-trade is to inflict pain and death on peace loving Nigerians.

The simultaneous bombing of various locations, targeting hallowed events such as weddings and burials, demonstrate the bestiality of the perpetrators who must have set out not just to maim and kill, but to traumatise the Gwoza community in particular and the nation in general.

Coming at a time that concerted efforts are being made by all levels of government to safeguard lives and properties, the dastard act of the perpetrators is a constant reminder that we must remain focused and united in our resolve to condemn, reject and dismantle ideologies that disrupt our way of life and threaten the peace, unity and progress of our country.

Though our hearts bleed at this wanton destruction of innocent lives, our resolve remains unshaken in the firm belief that good will always triumph over evil.

At the PDP Governors Forum, we pledge our unalloyed support for every legitimate effort by the Federal Government, including changes to the nation’s security architecture, that hold the promise of bringing an end to this reign of evil.

To members of our valiant Armed Forces and our security agencies, we pledge our continued support and prayers as they strive to keep us safe and secured from these depraved individuals and their sponsors.

May God grant the deceased eternal rest and the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the loss.

Our deepest condolences.

Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, FNMS MFR,

Director General,

PDP Governors’ Forum.
