Bayelsa Central Senatorial Road: Angiama-Oporoma Bridge attains 70% completion

  … As Governor Diri makes massive progress on infrastructural development in Bayelsa

Indeed, Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator  Douye Diri’s resolve to conquer the Bayelsa difficult terrain is unprecedented as on-going construction work at the Angiama-Oporoma Bridge has attained 70% completion stage.

Project Manager, China Civil Engineering and Construction Corporation Ltd, (CCECC) Mr. Karmelo Lee gave a breakdown of the on-going construction of the Yenagoa-Oporoma-Okubie Road when the Director-General, New Media to the Government of Bayelsa State, Dr. Kolawole Oredipe led members of his team and other journalists on a tour of projects embarked upon by the Prosperity administration.

Clearing any misconceptions, Mr. Lee stated that the steel Bridge previously held by some section of the public as the projected bridge was only to temporarily aid the actual construction of the main bridge, stressing that the Oporoma Bridge has 17 pillars inside the River Nun out of which 16 have already been constructed.

The Project Manager further stated that Governor Diri has met all financial requirements to the company to complete the project on record time, adding that the spur to Otuan is 2.1KM with 1.5KM stone-based already completed with an additional roundabout in the area while the road leading to Oporoma is progressing too.
Earlier, Director-General, New Media, Dr. Oredipe, stated that Governor Diri is committed to opening up more rural communities in the state while conveying the pledge of the Governor that none of the projects will suffer funding.

Director, Civil, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Bayelsa State, Engineer Cliff Eribo, highlighted that the length of the Oporoma Bridge is 670 meters long with height that enables free passage of ships and heavy duty vessels even at the top of floods.
