Delta State Takes Home $400,000 in the NGF - Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation PHC Leadership Challenge

Delta State was awarded $400,000 in the Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge organized by the Nigerian Governors Forum in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Friday, December 13. 

The award recognizes the state’s outstanding performance in primary healthcare management under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration. It also marks the first time Delta State is being recognized in the competition which aims to improve grassroots healthcare access across Nigeria.
Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, Commissioner for Health, disclosed that Governor Oborevwori’s notable effort to improve the healthcare sector in the state by way of approval for the renovation of over 150 primary healthcare centers (PHCs), also played a key role in the achievement.
