Governor Agbu Kefas Swears In the New Head of Civil Service.
A new Head of Civil Service for Taraba State has officially taken office following the recent appointment by Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas.
The swearing-in ceremony occurred at the Exco Chamber of Government House in Jalingo on Thursday 27th of February 2025.
The Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, swore in Dr Hamidu Ahmed Kara, the newly appointed Head of Civil Service, and made it clear that his administration is fully committed to transforming the civil service into an efficient, transparent, and results-driven entity.
The Governor demanded that the new Head of Service cultivate a renewed sense of responsibility, lead by example, and uphold the highest ethical standards. Diligence, integrity, and fairness are non-negotiable.
He emphasized the urgent need to address the challenges of restoring efficiency and professionalism within the service, insisting that productivity must remain a top priority and never be compromised.
Workers must not view their roles as mere routine tasks; they should recognize their contribution as essential to the state's growth. The Governor envisions a workforce that is responsive, proactive, and focused on delivering solutions.
Justice and fairness must underpin every decision within the civil service, with promotions and rewards strictly merit-based. He expects the new Head of Service to innovate and enhance the civil service system, making it more effective.
The Governor made it abundantly clear that there will be zero tolerance for laxity; his administration will demand performance over excuses.
He highlighted that Dr. Ahmed’s appointment was based on a proven track record of excellence and service.
In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn-in Head of Civil Service expressed gratitude to the Governor for his confidence and confirmed his commitment to serving with a high degree of responsibility.
Dr Kara will implement new reforms aimed at transforming the service and fostering an environment where productivity thrives. His vision is to establish a people-oriented service that serves as a benchmark for excellence.
He pledged to tackle the issues of ghost workers and ensure heightened productivity, emphasizing the promotion of ICT in the civil service.
Dr. Hamidu Ahmed Kara was born on August 31, 1968, in Gembu. He earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Maiduguri and was appointed as a permanent secretary in 2022.
