Governor Agbu Kefas Announces Rebuilding Efforts During Visit to GDSS Howai, Mile Six Jalingo

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, emphasized his commitment to enhancing educational environments as he announced plans for the rebuilding of schools during an unscheduled visit to Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Howai, Mile Six, Jalingo, on February 5, 2025.

During his visit, which took place shortly after noon, Governor Kefas engaged with teachers and conducted a thorough inspection of the school's facilities and infrastructure. He expressed his vision to reorganize the school structure, proposing to establish five additional schools to better serve the student population. 

The governor highlighted his goal of creating an optimal learning environment by reducing class sizes to a maximum of 30 students. He reiterated the importance of fostering a conducive atmosphere for effective learning, which includes a commitment to rebuilding GDSS Howai as the starting point of this initiative.

In addition to the Governor's remarks, the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, shared exciting news about youth training initiatives. Youth from all 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, who have been trained by Hydroform Brick Making Company and contractors involved in the remodelling efforts, will soon begin the rebuilding project for government schools under the Ministry of Education's guidance.

Dr Godwin also mentioned that the Ministry is actively collecting data on primary school teachers and students and is in the process of gathering information about secondary school teachers and students. This comprehensive data collection aims to ensure that all students receive adequate support and resources for their educational needs.

Accompanying the governor during this pivotal visit were several key government officials, reflecting a unified commitment to improving educational standards across Taraba State.
