Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has threatened to revoke contracts of abandoned road construction projects in the state. He also directed them to refund all the advance payments they got if they cannot complete the projects.

The abandoned projects were awarded by the previous administration, headed by former Governor Mohammed Abubakar.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mukhtar Gidado, in a statement on Friday said Mohammed gave the warning at the Government House when he met with contractors handling various abandoned road projects in the state. He also said he was not satisfied with the performance of the contractors.

The governor was quoted as saying, “I’m not here to beg anybody; I’m here with my lawyers. You should either do it (the project) or leave it. I’m not interested in anything you have done in the past, but what I will do now I will do very well.

“We are here to serve the people, we will discuss with you honestly and sincerely. We are not EFCC, but we will take legal action against any of you found wanting.”

Gidado said the governor promised to work with the contractors willing to resume work by giving them the balance of the contract sum so they could complete the projects for the benefit of the people.
