Arrangements have been concluded for the contract award for an Olympic size stadium in Gusau, Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun) has revealed.

Governor Matawalle said the stadium will be a 25,000 capacity one and will be modern in structure and facilities.

He made the revelation while receiving the torch of Unity from the Federal Ministry of Sports in preparation for the next month's sports festival coming up in Edo State.

Governor Matawalle further said that plans are on to provide all the 14 Local Government Areas of the state with a mini stadium so that the Youth at the grassroots will be fully engaged.

"It is true that sports is not only a means of recreation, but also an economic activity where we intend to engage our Youth to imbibe, as as the saying goes, an idle mind is a devil's workshop," Governor Matawalle observed.

Already, a mini stadium has been incorporated in each of the three ruggas being constructed by the Matawalle administration as a means of creating an enabling environment for the repentant Youth to try their talents in sporting activities.

Governor Matawalle promised to support the execution of this year's sports festival and assured that either himself or his Deputy will be present at the event to give moral support to "Team Zamfara".
