GOV. AYADE APPROVES CONSTRUCTION OF 4 NEW CITIES

In line with the vision to make Cross River State the main  tourism hub through the development of New Cities for maximum utilization of its  tourism potentials, the State Governor, Sen (Prof.) Ben Ayade has granted approval for the Ministry of New Cities Development to construct four (4) new cities in the State.


The Commissioner for New Cities Development, Hon. Michael Ede Usibe,
disclosed this at the Ministry's headquarters, Calabar, the State Capital,saying that modalities are being worked out for the full realization of this objective.

Hon. Usibe, who had earlier in January, 2020 hinted that, the four (4) New Cities which would be homes to some of the State's newest and most fascinating buildings as well as serve as tourist centres where visitors can unwind after the day's task said, the Cities would be constructed, one in each Senatorial District of the namely: Calas Vegas in Calabar; Centicot at Ochun in Obubra, Northicot at Yala and Obudu Local Government Areas  of the State.

The Commissioner said in January this year, he had informed Management Staff during his inaugural meeting on the Governor's directives to the Ministry to forward a proposal for the construction of Obudu New City, maintaining that, "the four (4) New Cities when  completed will facilitate unique State-of-the-art landmarks for the befitting edifices which would in turn, increase the State's internally generated revenue.

"The Ministry under my watch is ready, capable and determined to act swiftly to ensure that this laudable project is realized," the Commissioner averred.

These Four (4) New Cities in Calabar, Obubra, Yala and Obudu will be some among the many development projects carried out by the Governor Ayade-led administration to establish an international reputation for Cross River State as Nigeria's most dynamic and resourceful State in support of its tourism potentials.
