GOVERNOR AYADE COMMENDED FOR PAYMENT OF BENEFICIARIES STIPENDS
The State Governor Senator Ben Ayade has been commended for clearing the outstanding payments of YESSO Public Workfare Beneficiaries in the State totaling 0.54 Billion Naira.
The Head, Monitoring and Evaluation Federal Operating Co-Ordinating Unit of YESSO Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Musa made this commendation recently while on a verification visit to the State.
Alhaji Abubakar Musa who was accompanied by the National Project Accountant Bamidele Akinola as well as a representative of the Federal Ministry of Finance Babatunde Adebayo, explained that the aim of the visit is 'to check records and verify from the beneficiaries themselves’ the payment status of their stipends.
He maintained that ‘YESSO at the national level does not want to lose Cross River especially as it is part of the eight pilot States of the programme as well as the only State in the South-South and South-East and commended the Commissioner, Ministry of International Development Corporation, Dr. Inyang Asibong for initiating moves to ensure that the CRS–YESSO gets back on the national YESSO platform before 1st March 2019.
In her remarks, the Commissioner, Ministry of International Development Corporation, Dr. Inyang Asibong, expressed appreciation to the team for the visit and stressed the State Government’s avowed commitment to ensure that Cross River State does not lose out of the YESSO Program.
Earlier in his remarks, the Head of Operations and Acting Co-ordinator of YESSO in the State, Mr. Francis Otu, expressed optimism that the visit will go a long way in restoring full YESSO activities in the State.
It would be recalled that the activities of YESSO in the State had been halted following issues that led to the suspension of the Program’s Co-ordinator in September 2019.
