Agboola Ajayi Reveal Reasons for Dumping APC
The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi said he left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), because Governor Rotimi Akeredolu was ‘kneeling on neck’ of the party in the State.
Ajayi stated this following his defection to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that his political sojourn in All Progressives Congress(APC) came to an end because “the party has become a poisoned space.”
“It is a house divided against itself and in Ondo State in particular, the party is having breathing difficulties because one man is kneeling on its neck. At the moment in Ondo State, democracy and wide participation by the people have given way to unsolicited and illegitimate outsourcing of power, familitocracy, nepotism, clannishness and primitive accumulation of illegal wealth under state cover”, he said.
further reports that, Ajayi who for months was at loggerheads with Governor Akeredolu and his former party over the coming governorship election in the state, stated that he chose Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because it is a larger house, which he had helped to build and a place which is not under the chokehold of one man or a clique.
The number two citizen of the state who was yet to make it clear if he is going to contest for governorship poll expressed optimism that the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) would return power to the people of Ondo State.
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus who led a delegation of the opposition party to Ondo to welcome Ajayi at the party’s state secretariat in Akure said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a responsible party for responsible people like Ajayi, pledging that the party would be governed by its constitution.
Meanwhile, notable chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) at the ceremony include a former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, and the Southwest leader of the opposition party, Olurogun Olafeso.
