The State Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Honorable Hamisu Muazu Shira announced this while briefing Government House Correspondents shortly after the inauguration of the compensation Committee.

The Commissioner said the timely release of the funds for the payment of compensation is part of the desire of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to ensure compensation is duly paid before commencement of any project.

According to him, the state government used its rate to come up with the 206 million naira as real compensation to be paid to affected individuals.

"Hitherto in the past, government will take over people's farms and leave them suffering due to non payment of compensation, but His Excellency, Senator Abdulkadir Mohammed, Kauran Bauchi said this time around it will be a different, his administration is for the people and by that, eventhough we have mobilized the contractors, the Governor insisted that before we start anything on site, we must make sure compensation is duly paid to the affected citizens."

To this end, the Housing and Environment Comissioner directed the contractors handing the housing project within 48 hours to commence work by resuming to site as the issue of payment of compensation cannot affect their work.

Commenting on the development, the District Head of Miri whose Housing project for Bauchi is to be constructed under his domain, Malam Husaini Abubakar Othman applauded Governor Bala Mohammed for coming up with the initiative describing it as a landmark achievement.
