NUC approves three more faculties for Delta 'Varsity-Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Tuesday, confirmed that the National Universities Commission, (NUC), has approved the establishment of three more faculties for the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro.

Governor Oborevwori announced the NUC's approval for the establishment of the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, and Health Sciences, when he received on a solidarity and congratulatory visit, a delegation of leaders and traditional rulers from Isoko nation, at Government House, Asaba.

The Governor thanked the Isoko nation for their support and for being worthy in-laws, assuring that his administration would continue to do everything within its powers to develop all parts of the state.

"I appreciate this visit because it is long overdue. I know the support that you people gave to me and I made some promises that I am still keeping till today. The Chief of Staff was the first person I appointed from Isoko nation. I have given key appointments to the Isoko nation."

"I am happy that you have come to congratulate me on our victory at the Supreme Court. You have also come with some requests. I have taken note of all the requests you made. Like I  promised, I am going to be  Governor for all Deltans and I am doing just that."

"We are doing our best. If you drive through the Oleh Roundabout, you will smile because it has changed. We need unity and peace in Delta State."

Governor Oborevwori assured that he would not do anything to undermine the Isoko people, especially in the area of education.

He said the three new faculties approved by the NUC for the University reflected his desire to ensure that Isoko nation continued to enjoy a pride of place in the delivery of his administration's MORE Agenda.

He said he had also resolved the issues surrounding the Isoko Development Union (IDU) - Youth Wing. 

Earlier, the President of the Isoko Development Union, IDU, Professor Chris Akpotu, said the delegation visited to congratulate the Governor on his victory at the Supreme Court and to also discuss further areas for Isoko development.

"We are here to visit you as our very great in-law and to congratulate you on your tortuous journey from the election to the tribunal and up to the Supreme Court."

"We appreciate your political benevolence in appointing our illustrious sons and daughters into political positions", Akpotu said.

He commended Governor Oborovweri for the ongoing works on the Ughelli - Asaba road and urged him to facilitate the completion of the Isoko Circular road, particularly the Ofagbe - Ovrode Road and the reconstruction of Uzere - Asaba-Ase Road and Olomoro - Igbide Road.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the visit, Professor Akpotu said that many issues were discussed in relation to the present concerns in Isoko nation and "everything is in the right shape; it's an ongoing discussion."

Also speaking, the member representing Isoko North, Isoko South Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, said he would collaborate with the State Government to provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
