Gov. Diri presides over 31st State Security Council Meeting

...takes measures against cultism

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri Thursday, presided over the 31st State Security Council Meeting, which held at the Governor's conference room in Government House, Yenagoa.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Francis Idu, outlined resolutions of the meeting.

His words: "For the rising tide of cultism among youths, the Governor admonished parents to take good and strict measures in the upbringing of their children, to isolate them from bad influences and to curtail the drive to join cults that will impede on their future.

His Excellency also deliberated with council on the upcoming Local Government elections. The preparedness of council was reviewed and His Excellency harped on the need for peace and a better environment for the Local Government elections.
Council generally assured the people of the state of a peaceful Easter celebration, that security of lives and property is guaranteed, and that celebration should be done in a very cordial atmosphere, and wish that the youths will refrain from any act that will tarnish the image of the state."
