Taraba Governor Swears In Newly Elected Local Government Chairmen
The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has sworn in the newly elected Council Chairmen in the state.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Gym Hall, Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo, Taraba State capital.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Chairmen of Local Government Areas in Taraba State, the Governor of Taraba, Dr Agbu Kefas said their emergence is a trust entrusted to them with the responsibility to steer their communities towards progress and development.
Dr. Agbu Kefas told the council Chairmen that they have a pivotal role in the implementation of the five-finger agenda set forth by his administration.
As custodian of public trust, the Governor urged the new Chairmen to lead with integrity and diligence.
According to the Governor, two years tenure is a valuable window of opportunities to make an impact, and added that the Chairmen must work tirelessly to bring about positive change.
He encouraged them to embrace technology to enhance governance and leverage digital solutions for improved service delivery, data management, and communication with the public as it will make information accessible.
Dr. Agbu Kefas further enjoined them to collaborate with neighboring Local Government Areas to foster unity, and knowledge sharing to address regional challenges.
He also tasked them to invest in capacity building of the staff as well as trained personnel to contribute to the achievement of set goals.
Dr. Agbu Kefas made a case for the development of regularly updated contingent plans for disaster management.
Responding, the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State assured the Governor of their readiness to serve.
Justice Nuhu Adi of the state High Court administered the oath of office on the new Chairmen on behalf of the state Acting Chief Judge.
The occasion was well attended by top government functionaries and well-wishers of the new Chairmen in Taraba State.
