Demise of Muhammadu Buhari: PDP Governors' Forum Mourns

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors' Forum, PDP-GF, under the chairmanship of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (CON) and Governor of Bauchi State on behalf of all member-Governors receives with shock, the news of the passing away of Nigeria's immediate-past President, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, yesterday in London.

President Buhari was a distinguished leader whose contributions shaped the course of our nation. His unwavering commitment to integrity, public service, and national unity will forever be remembered.

His contributions to Nigeria - as both a military head of state and a democratically elected president— will continue to inspire generations on determination to meet our goals in life against all odds. And in our reflections as public office holders, to humbly uphold the essence of humanity over self and parochial sentiments for the good of our nation in whole. 

The Forum views the demise of the elder statesman as an irreparable loss to the nation, of a citizen, who sacrificed his life for the corporate survival of Nigeria and played a crucial role in steering the nation towards the course of  democratic governance.

Muhammadu Buhari was a man, who held fast to a life guided by principle, against the extreme temptation of privilege, serving as the conscience of the nation and an epitome of moral uprightness and virtue for all generations of Nigerians.

The PDPGF wishes to console the former First Lady, the children and the extended family of the late President, as well as extend heartfelt commiserations to the Government and people of Katsina State and indeed, Nigeria as a whole for this bereavement, while reflecting on the fine aspects of his life as a lesson for us all.

We pray Allah to grant Muhammadu Buhari eternal bliss and give his loved ones and the entire nation the fortitude to bear the huge loss.

The PDP Governors’ Forum under the leadership of H.E. Governor Bala A. Mohammed, CON, held an enlarged meeting at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge, Tatari Ali House, Asokoro on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Rising from the consultative meeting of the various organs of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Party resolved as follows: 1. The National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting originally slated for October 24, 2024, has been rescheduled to November 28, 2024. 2.
