As part of the urban renewal development of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's administration, the Adamawa State Ministry of Commerce, Trade, and Industry, under the leadership of the Hon. Commissioner, Dr. Ishaya John Dabari, has signed an agreement with the Italian construction company, Amijapp Nigerian Limited, for the development of essential infrastructure at the new market in Yola.
The project is expected to be completed within six months. During the contract signing ceremony, key documents detailing the project design and specifications were officially handed over to the company.
Speaking shortly after the handover, the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade, and Industry, Dr. Ishaya John Dabari, described the initiative as a major step toward enhancing market standards and improving security in the area.
He highlighted that the project includes the construction of a road network, a drainage system, and the installation of solar-powered electricity
Dr. Dabari stated that the 1.8-kilometer internal road network would be supervised by indigenous engineers to ensure both quality and timely completion. He also expressed confidence that the company would meet the project's timeframe and quality standards in line with the state government’s Urban Renewal Project.
In his response, the Chief Executive Officer of Amijapp Nigerian Limited, Mr. Guiliano Cello, highlighted his 47 years of experience in road construction and assured that, with sufficient manpower and equipment, the project would be delivered promptly.
“We will definitely deliver the best. We operate with both quality and speed. We also have the experience. Given that the current governor has a strong vision for improving shopping areas across the state, it’s clear that Governor Fintiri prioritizes quality work and we will not disappoint,” he said.
The Commissioner, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Saso Benson Ali, and other officials, inspected the market to assess the project’s starting point.
