Flooding in Yola: Governor Fintiri inspects Bole mining site to investigate real cause of incident

In response to the recent severe flooding in Yola, Governor Ahmadu Umaru  Fintiri visited the Bole mining site to investigate the cause of the incident.

This visit was prompted by concerns raised by some individuals who attributed the flooding to a dam constructed by miners.

Upon conducting an on-site inspection, the Governor affirmed that neither the dam nor the mining operations were responsible for the flood.

He clarified that the primary issue was the unauthorized construction of buildings on waterways and drainage channels, which impeded the natural flow of water and resulted in significant flooding and damage.

Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration's dedication to addressing the detrimental practice of constructing on waterways, emphasizing the government's unwavering commitment to safeguarding the safety and well-being of the public.

He further stated that the government would take immediate action regarding these structures to prevent the recurrence of such a devastating event in the future.

The Governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Auwal Tukur, the Chief of Staff of Government House Yola, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday, and the Commissioner of Environment, Bala Kalu, along with other senior government officials.
