Bauchi Gov. approves N28.7m to improve waste management

To facilitate the evacuation of house hold wastes dumped along major roads within Bauchi and environs, Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has approved the release of N28.7 million naira for the construction of six waste collection centers within the metropolis.
While speaking during the commissioning ceremony of waste collection centers (Phase I) at Bakin kura, Bauchi, the Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Environment and Housing. Alhaji Mu'azu Hamisu Shira, said, to further demonstrate commitment, the project was planned, designed and built to last the test of time, with an expected utilization period of twenty (20) years.
In the same vein, the Governor also approved the release of N9.7million to the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency. for the repairs of the agency's equipments.
Bala Mohammed commended the efforts of the management and staff for the job done, through direct labour.
He maitained that the collection centers regulates the orderliness and proper manner of solid waste disposal and it's subsequent evacuation to the approved landfill sites at the outskirt of the city and its conversion from waste to wealth.
His Royal Highness, the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, who was represented by the Ciroman of Bauchi, Nuru Adamu Jumba, called for the people to maintain and support the strides and make sure that there is strict compliance in dumping refuse henceforth.
However, the members of the community where the projected has been constructed appreciate the effort, and said they will utilise the gesture for the overall sustainace of Environmental friendly.
