Hitherto, assessment of the  WASH in Nigeria revealed that the sector is in a very critical condition and needs increased attention to achieve the  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Water and Sanitation by the Year 2030 .

It is equally on record that about 47 million Nigerians practise open defecation, this ranks us as the country with the highest number of people indulging in the act in Africa and second, globally, after India.

Therefore, today's occasion is a national transformation initiative aimed at mobilizing the populace to imbibe the culture of safe defecation practice towards the attainment of the national target of making Nigeria Open  Defecation Free by  2025 in line with the national roadmap.

The Bauchi State Government under the inspirational leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed has given much attention to Open Defecation Free Bauchi State through the provision of  counterfund  to RUWASSA for the execution of various programs and projects  in the areas of water and sanitation by drilling and installation of boreholes and toilets.

Governor Bala Mohammed led a powerful delegation from Bauchi which includes the Wife of the Deputy Governor of Bauchi who represented Her Excelency, the First Lady of Bauchi State, the Permanent Secretary RUWASA  and other relevant government officials.
