Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, CON, has reiterated that the State is in a hurry to develop, even as he insists, his administration, will break all barriers that may impede delivering dividends of democracy to the citizenry.

Speaking at the swearing-in of the Head of Service, Dr. Chibuzor Iwuagwu, Wednesday, at Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Council Chambers, Government House, he said that his administration will not condone any attempt to undermine its efforts towards rebuilding the State, which has suffered serious infrastructural decay and maladministration in the past eight years.

According to him, “The Rebuild Imo Agenda is on course, and all hands must be on deck to make Imo great again.We are in a hurry to develop Imo State".

“As a government, we are prepared to lead and we have shown our desire and commitment to serve Imo State with our best intentions and to the best of our abilities”.

He charged the new Head of Service to ensure that the civil service in the State undergoes transformation and, importantly, reposition for greater efficiency, effective service delivery, high productivity and economic gains.

He continued, “I had put a searchlight to identify who can run the civil service. All hands pointed towards Dr.Iwuagwu. Your appointment was made after considering your records in the public service including your character, therefore you are expected to spearhead reforms in the Service without fear or favour".

“We look forward to seeing effective service delivery, adherence to extant rules and respect for due process in the public service system in the coming months. We hope you will do your best to satisfy our intentions in the civil service by delivering results".

Governor Ihedioha stated that his administration will not give room to those who want to undermine the efforts of his administration in transforming the State.

“I will hold you responsible if you fail to report erring civil servants. At the same time, we will not tolerate the antics of those who could undermine the efforts of our administration in rebuilding our State".

In his remarks, Dr.Iwuagwu, assured the Governor that the civil service in Imo State under his leadership, would witness transformation in conformity with the 'Rebuild Imo Agenda'.

He said, “The civil service in the past years suffered immensely and lost its values. But may I assure Your Excellency that we will ensure there is increased productivity, efficiency in service and restoration of high moral values in the service".
