S'Court Verdict: Taraba erupts in jubilation as massive crowds gather for rallies

Following the victory at the Supreme Court on Thursday, a massive crowd of supporters stormed Jalingo streets in anticipation of Governor Agbu Kefas triumphant entry into the state capital.

Although the Governor could not make the trip from Abuja due to bad weather, the crowd nonetheless marched through streets chanting victory songs.

One of the supporters who gave his name as Salisu said he trekked from a neighboring community to be in Jalingo to demonstrate his solidarity.

Noticeably, as news from the Apex Court filtered into the state, the Local Governments erupted in jubilation with street marches and solidarity songs.

A party stalwart from one of the Local Governments, Mrs. Asabe, said they are prepared to wait for the Governor's coming no matter how long it would take. She said their joys knew no bounds as a heavy burden has been rolled away.

Thursday's verdict by the Supreme Court brought to closure months of litigations and legal feud seen by many as a mere distraction. A legal practitioner opined that the courts must not entertain such frivolous suits next time as it amounts to a waste of time.

However, Governor Agbu Kefas, who earlier  commented on the verdict praised the Judiciary and said it was a victory for democracy. He noted that the success stories recorded so far in the state would increase now that all distractions are gone.

Also commenting, many leaders across the state said the verdict aligns with the popular wish of citizens.  Describing it as a referendum on the performance of the Governor so far, they said Dr Kefas would now be free to do more for the state.

Meanwhile, commentators also continue to applaud the Judiciary for standing on the side of truth and fairness. They stressed that the landmark judgement has strengthen jurisprudence and boosted democracy.
