Bauchi Govt Pledges Better Days Ahead, Journalists Inspect Projects - Report




Bauchi State Government has promised better days to the people of the state, as journalists embarked on  a three-day inspection of projects across the state in preparation for  the one year anniversary of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Kauran Bauchi.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Garba Dahiru, gave the hint while addressing journalists at one of the completed road projects in the state capital.

The Commissioner who led the delegation said that one year was enough to assess the performance of any serious government.

"You are all aware that the Government of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Kauran Bauchi, will soon be one year old and it is a practice and we felt it is very important to invite the media family to come and inspect for yourself what has actually been happening in order to compare and contrast what the governor has done for his people."

According to him, Governor Bala Mohammed has demonstrated that he is a true servant of his people by carrying out numerous developmental projects within such a short period of time.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Engineer Stephen Abubakar, who took journalists round the 1.75Km Yakubun Bauchi-Raji quarters road, said that the road has been completed 100 percent with adequate water drainages.

He said that the road has opened up communities that heitherto, lacked road infrastructure and were locked out from other neighboring areas.

The Permanent Secretary who described the project as a standard one, pointed out that it has now boosted the day-to-day businesses of people of the area.

"The road is part of three roads that have been packaged in one contract. This one that we are standing on and another one that will be going over there have been completed like this one that has been completed 100 percent."

He added that the road serves the community and links it with a 4.2Km bypass road that is being constructed from Gombe road to Maiduguri road.

He said that the same contract includes the Muda Lawal Market Road which is 1.1Km, adding that the three roads totaling over 7Km was awarded at the sum of N2.5 bilion to Triacta Nigeria Limited.

Engineer Abubakar said that two of the roads have been completed 100 percent and are being put to use, while others are ongoing.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, had  earlier explained that the visitation was at the instance of his principal.

 "We are here on inspection visit on projects executed by the Governor against the cognizance that Friday, 29th May, 2020 marks one year anniversary of His Excellency."

Projects inspected by the team of the journalists are, completed roads from Yakubun Bauchi to Maiduguri bye pass, ongoing Muda Lawal road project, ongoing water expansion in Gubi Dam, ongoing water reservoir project, SDGs project in General Hassan Usman Unity College, among others.
