In a release by his Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou,

"Adamawa mourns", Governor Fintiri said.
"Compelled by his unshakeable faith and deep love of country, Late Senator Wampana dedicated his life to defending both Adamawa and the Adamawa project - fighting tirelessly to ensure that the state remains a land of justice, freedom and hope".
He said that Adamawa has lost a hero and a statesman, "Never afraid to speak truth to power, his impact will go on for many years to come".
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri views this as a deeply sad moment for the state and nation as we mourn the passing of a towering figure in Adamawa politics, who served as first Speaker of the defunct Gongola State.
"I have lost a friend and a mentor. He was one of Adamawa's finest", Fintiri said.
While saluting the uncommon courage, foresight and integrity that the late Senator brought into politics, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri prayed God to grant the family and close associates the fortitude to bear the loss.
