Bayelsa Muslims Praise Diri’s Ramadan Gestures

Muslims in Bayelsa State, on Monday, gave thumbs up to Governor Douye Diri for his administration’s show of love during the Ramadan period. Speaking on behalf of the Muslim community, chairman of the state chapter of the Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Yakubu Otobo, who led other leaders to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr at the governor's hometown,  Sampou, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state, expressed appreciation for the support to the Muslim brethren in the state during their festive seasons. He also thanked the governor for the regular pilgrimage sponsorship of Muslims throughout his first tenure. Otobo described the administration’s welfare gestures as laudable, noting that Muslims in the state enjoy a rare privilege compared to their counterparts in other states. Gov Diri Appoints Gospel Artiste, Ekiye, Ijaw Language Ambassador

Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has named gospel musician, Asu Ekiye, Ijaw Language Ambassador.  Speaking on Sunday in Yenagoa during Ekiye's musical concert and album launch tagged "Ebikamo Experience," Governor Diri said the appointment was in recognition of his effort to preserve Ijaw language through his music and that this was in line with his administration's vision to ensure the language does not go extinct. Describing the musician's passion for preserving the language as commendable, he said his administration has trained Ijaw teachers and would do more to promote the language. Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has said the end of the month-long fasting and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri was a period to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice, tolerance and love that the feast epitomises. Governor Diri stated this while felicitating with Muslim faithful in the state and across Nigeria on the Ramadan celebration.  He noted that as one of the key pillars of Islam, fasting during Ramadan was important for developing the virtues of self-abnegation and tolerance in every Muslim. • As Muslim Leaders Pay Him Eid-El-Fitri Visit  Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has assured residents that the ongoing political crisis in the state will ultimately strengthen the people rather than weaken them. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri  has announced his plan for visiting Emirs and Chiefs  to build collaboration in ensuring the issue of out-of-school children and security problems becomes a past narrative in Adamawa State. The Governor disclosed this when the Council of Emirs and Chiefs, led by the vice chairman and Emir of Mubi, Alhaji Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, paid him a Sallah homage at Government House, Yola, Monday. Diri Inaugurates Six New Yenagoa Schools

. ..Says His Legacies Will Speak For Him Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, on Friday, inaugurated projects executed by his administration in six newly created secondary schools in the state capital, Yenagoa. The schools are located in Biogbolo, Yenezue-Epie, Ovom, Ekeki, Akenfa and Igbogene communities and have a combined population of 4,628 students. Speaking during the joint inauguration at the Government Secondary School, Biogbolo, Governor Diri said his administration was bequeathing legacy projects that would speak for him at the end of his tenure. He explained that on assumption of office, he realised there was a deficit in school infrastructure and he decided to approve the construction of schools across the state capital.
