 ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY SEN. BALA ABDULKADIR MOHAMMED, CON, Fnipr (KAURAN DAULAR USMANIYYA) THE  EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF BAUCHI STATE ON THE OCCASION  OF HOMAGE PAID TO HIM  AT THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE BY HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE EMIR OF BAUCHI ALHAJI (DR) RILWANU SULEIMAN ADAMU,CFR, DURING

-Your Excellency, The Deputy Governor,

-The Honourable Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly,

-My Lords, the Chief Judge and Grand Khadi,

-Honourable Members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly,

-Members of the  State Executive Council,

-Secretary to the State Government,

-Chief of Staff Government  House,

-The Chairman, PDP Bauchi State,

-The Head of Civil Service,

-Your Royal Highness the Emir of Bauchi,

-Chief Executives of Parastatals and Heads of Extra–Ministerial Departments,

 

-Distinguished Invited  Guests,

 

-Members of the Press,

 

-Ladies and Gentlemen.

 

I am very delighted  to welcome  His Royal Highness the Emir of Bauchi   Alhaji (Dr) Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu,CFR to the Government House along with his District Heads and other traditional title holders in his Emirate to pay homage to me as part of the activities marking this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration. The sustenance of this age-long tradition is a manifestation of the support and honour I enjoy from the traditional     institution in the State.This understanding between government and the traditional institution will go a long way in strengthening the existing  cordial relationship between the two parties. I am therefore  most appreciative and grateful for the gesture.


2.  As a Government that has been put in place  through a popular mandate freely given by the people  of the State, we are not only committed to bringing about positive change in the  lives of the people but would also ensure that lives and property of all citizens are protected. We are desirous of creating an environment where all citizens would pursue their lawful activities without let or hindrance. To this end, we have since coming on board in 2019 and our  subsequent re-election in 2023, embarked on the provision of infrastructural facilities and social amenities across the State.  You will bear me witness that these initiatives have changed the lives of the people of Bauchi State for the better. Ours is a government that is determined to do more with the little resources at its disposal. This entails prudent management of resources and plugging leakages to free resources for execution of various projects. While we are trying to ensure value for money, we need the support and cooperation of traditional rulers to succeed in the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.  I therefore call on your Royal Highness and your colleagues, the other Emirs in the State, to educate your people on government’s effort and appeal for their  continued understanding and support to the government.

3.   Let me use this opportunity to  remind Your Royal Highness of the role of traditional rulers in maintaining  law and order   in their domains through  vigilance and prayers to complement government’s effort in this direction. This call has become more imperative now, more than ever before, because of the  security challenges being faced by some of our border communities. There have, of recent, been reports of kidnapping and banditry in Bula District along our border with Plateau State.  While Government is collaborating with security  agencies to address this and other security challenges, across the State, I would  like to appeal to our traditional rulers to prevail  on their people to be extra vigilant and report suspicious movements or persons to the security agencies. As we strive to  invite investors to the State, we cannot afford to allow security challenges to discourage them from coming to invest in the State. I would also like to call on traditional rulers to ensure mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among their people irrespective of their ethnic, religious or political differences. They should also imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, tolerance and  love for one another.

4. While wishing you a happy Eid-el-Fitr Celebrations, I pray that the occasion will be observed hitch-free. May the Almighty Allah continue to guide and protect us, Amen.  I wish you safe journey back to your various homes.

5. Thank you and may Allah (S.W.T.) continue to bless us and spare our lives to witness more Eid-el- fitr in future.

A delegation of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) led by the National Legal Adviser, Barrister Kamaludeen Ajibade, SAN today paid solidarity visit on the Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, CON, to felicitate with him on the giant developmental strides recorded by his administration in delivering democracy dividends to the people of the state. 2. The meeting, held at the Plateau State Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos was attended by the principal organs of the party: l NWC, PDP-GF, BOT, NASS Forum, Former Governors Forum, Former Ministers' Forum and other leaders of the party. Rising from the meeting, the organs of the party resolved as follows 1.
