Governor Kefas Strengthens Governance: Adopts SPDO, Elevates Waste Management to Agency Status

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has reiterated his administration's commitment to ensuring good governance and transparency in all sectors of the state.

Governor Agbu Kefas stated this during a presentation by the Strategic and Portfolio Delivery Office, SPDO at the TY Danjuma House Jalingo.

The Strategic and Portfolio Delivery Office is an independent entity set up to accelerate the delivery of the strategic objectives of the Taraba State Government.

It is also an initiative to drive performance in the state by assisting the government to track performance and ensure the timely completion of policies and projects.

After listening to their presentations, the Governor noted that his administration will ensure that the funds released by the government for the purpose of development, have a direct impact on the people in the state.

He announced the adoption of the Strategic and Portfolio Delivery Office under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Staff Government House administration.

Governor Kefas also directed that Operation Keep Taraba Clean be transformed into an agency of the government to enhance their activities and ensure the transformation of waste materials into productive commodities.

He urged all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to perform optimally, highlighting that accountability and efficiency remain top priorities.

Governor Kefas emphasized that interventions were already underway when he took office, stressing that counterpart funds without direct benefits to the people would not be prioritized.

He highlighted the importance of effective performance monitoring and the introduction of transparency in government activities.

Williams underscored that partner selection is crucial to the programme's success, noting that the committee carefully evaluates potential partners to ensure alignment with the state's development goals.
