Governor Bala Mohammed Launches Cement Drilling Campaign in Diji
•Vows to Initiate More Projects for Economic Development
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has officially launched the drilling campaign of Resident Cement Company Ltd in Diji Village, Gwana District of Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
The event, attended by dignitaries, investors, and community leaders, reiterated the state’s commitment to harnessing its vast mineral resources for economic transformation.
Speaking, Mohammed emphasized that Bauchi State’s rich mineral deposits are now open for investment, with strategic partnerships aimed at driving job creation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.
He described the initiative as the beginning of a new era for Bauchi, where the solid minerals sector will play a key role in diversifying the economy, attracting investment, and securing a prosperous future for the people.
While commending Resident Cement Company Ltd and other stakeholders for their confidence in the state, Mohammed assured them of a secure and supportive environment for their operations.
He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring mutual benefits for investors and the people of Bauchi.
Dr. Abbas Waziri Junaid, Group Chairman of Resident Cement Company Ltd, praised Governor Mohammed’s leadership in fostering public-private partnerships, describing the project as the first of many initiatives.
He noted that the cement plant would drive infrastructure growth, create jobs, and contribute to long-term economic stability in the region.
Engineer Michael Olawale Ogunbiyi, Director-General of the Kaduna-based National Steel Raw Material Exploration Agency, lauded the collaboration, stating that Bauchi’s mineral exploration efforts align with national economic diversification goals. He emphasized that the initiative demonstrates how states can leverage natural resources to reduce dependency on oil and empower communities.
Traditional and political leaders, including the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, and Gwana District Head, Sani Ahmed Adamu Jumba, acknowledged the project’s potential to uplift rural communities.
Member of the State House of Assembly Abdullahi Dan and Alkaleri LGA Chairman Retired Major Hassan Garba Bajama echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of equitable resource distribution for grassroots development.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Natural Resources Development, Mohammed Maiwada Bello, described the drilling campaign as a significant milestone.
