The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has directed stakeholders from affected communities and security agencies to ensure the return of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) by this Friday.

The Governor issued this directive during a meeting on Monday with community leaders from the Karim Lamido local government area and heads of various security agencies at the Exco Chamber of the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

Governor Agbu Kefas instructed that the resettlement process for the IDPs be completed by the end of the week. He expressed deep concern about the situation in Karim Lamido, noting that the conflict is primarily driven by land-related issues.

He emphasized the necessity for comprehensive land reforms to prevent future disputes. The Governor, visibly displeased with the conditions of displaced persons, stated that he would not tolerate the establishment of IDP camps in the state, stressing that Taraba must not normalize displacement.
He lamented that the ongoing crisis could have been avoided with proactive measures and urged those present at the meeting to work immediately on plans for the safe and dignified return of all IDPs to their ancestral homes.
