Gov Fintiri Graces 2025 Governor's Cup Grand Finale as Jada Wins 4-2 Ahead of Yola North in Penalty Shootout
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has watched in excitement as Jada Local Government football teams won the 2025 edition of the Governor's cup after a penalty shootout that ended 4-2.
The long awaited Governor's Cup grand finale which took place at the Federal College of Education football pitch attracted government officials, dignitaries and supporters of the two prolific football teams of Yola North and Jada LGAs.
The tournament which kicked off since February availed all teams from 21 LGAs of state opportunity to display their talents as their supporter cheer up and supported their individual LGAs football teams to win and takehome the exalted cup.
However, after long display and show of talent from all the teams Lamurde came 3rd while Yola North and Jada who played the final game after an intensed 90 minutes display that ended goalless draw, Jada won 4-2 ahead of Yola North in a penalty shootout.
Fintiri who led Government officials to the FCE football stadium for the final showdown between Yola North and Jada football teams expressed excitement, with the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by the players from both teams and the officials.
While commending both teams and match officials for ensuring a seamless and thrilling 90 minutes game, Fintiri announced a donation of one million Naira each to the 21 Local Government football teams and charge them to always ensure they prepare early before the tournament.
He revealed that with such great talents, his administration will not relent in supporting and encouraging sporting activities among the youths and get the best out of them.
This according to him was evident as government is on course to completing a world class standard stadium in the state capital, assuring that the final of the next edition of the Governor's cup will take place in the new stadium complex.
He pointed out that government will do all it takes to support youths with talent to be known not only within the state but national and international.
