Governor Fintiri Presides Over Adamawa State Exco Meeting

...as Exco approves 2025 budget amendment to fund Scholarship Trust Fund

The Adamawa State Executive Council, at its 6th meeting for 2025, approved an amendment to the 2025 budget, including an additional N1 billion virement for the State Scholarship Trust Fund.

The fund is intended to cover outstanding tuition fees and allowances for students sponsored by the state government to study at Mewar University, India, under a foreign scholarship scheme.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya, disclosed this to journalists after the council meeting, which was presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Government House, Yola, Wednesday.

Contributing, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, explained that the sponsored students were enrolled in health and engineering-related degree programmes.

He added that the budget amendment would clear the outstanding payments owed to the university, which is necessary for the release of the students’ certificates and their subsequent mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

It could be recalled that the students recently visited the Government House in Yola to express their gratitude to Governor Umaru Fintiri for the opportunity to study various courses at Mewar University, India.
