Gov Fintiri Commends Gangwari Ganye At Silver Jubilee Celebration
Ganye, the headquarters of the Chamber Chiefdom, was agog on Saturday as guests from all walks of life converged to celebrate the Gangwari Ganye, Alhaji Dr. Umaru Adamu Sanda, on the occasion of his 25th anniversary on the throne.
The royal father ascended the throne on April 7, 2000, following his unanimous election by the kingmakers and subsequent appointment by the government. He was elevated from second-class to first-class status on December 4, 2004.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri acknowledged that the Gangwari Ganye has rendered purposeful service to his people, upheld the rich cultural heritage of the Chiefdom, and fostered peace and unity.
“Your reign has been a beacon of stability and progress. You have been a father to all and a bridge-builder among diverse communities. Under your leadership, Ganye has witnessed improvements in education, agriculture, traditional governance, and community engagement,” the governor said.
Governor Fintiri commended the tireless efforts of the Gangwari Ganye in complementing government initiatives, particularly in conflict resolution, youth empowerment, and cultural preservation.
“Your relationship with the government has been one of partnership, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the well-being of our people. The place of traditional institutions in our society remains indispensable, and your leadership is a shining example of this enduring relevance,” he added.
He urged the people, especially the younger generation, to draw inspiration from the Gangwari’s integrity, humility, and dedication. He encouraged them to let the anniversary serve as a call to unity, mutual respect, and continued cooperation for the development of Ganye and Adamawa State at large.
“The government will continue to support the progress and development of the Ganye Chiefdom. We will harness its abundant agricultural potentials, mineral resources, and other assets for the benefit of our people and the nation,” he stated.
Governor Fintiri noted the transformation of the College of Agriculture, Ganye, into the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, emphasizing that the change is more than just a name—it signifies a broader mandate and expanded scope.
“I urge all sons and daughters of Ganye Chiefdom to support the government in our determination to make Ganye economically vibrant and socially cohesive,” he said. In his remarks, the celebrant, Gangwari Ganye, Alhaji Dr. Umaru Adamu Sanda, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the silver jubilee celebration. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring peace and tranquility in the Chiefdom.
The Chairman of the Central Organising Committee, Representative Mohammed Inuwa Bassi, noted that the reign of the Gangwari Ganye has brought unity, progress, and development to the Chiefdom.
The silver jubilee celebration featured the conferment of the highest traditional title of Gang Paan Ganye on Retired General TY Danjuma, who was the chairman of the occasion. The event was also graced with cultural dances and a grand durbar, which added colour and splendour to the ceremony.
