Governor Bello Matawalle Facilitates The Return Of 16 Year Old Boy Stranded In Mali Over Four Years


Governor Bello Muhammed Matawallen Maradun, Barden Hausa, Shettiman Sokoto has facilitated the safe return of Fatihu Muhammed Tukur a 16 year old indigene of Zamfara state from Kaura Namoda local Government stranded in Mali over four years.

 


Presenting the boy to the Governor, the Zamfara state coordinator of Child protection Network Alhaji Bachiri Sarkin Fulani Bungudu said

Fatihu Muhammed Tukur who was taken to Kaulaha, Senegal for pursuance of Islamic Education absconded from his Arabic School in Kaulaha Senegal and trek to Mali, a journey which took him five months to reach Mali.


He said the report of the whereabouts of the Boy was communicated through Zamfara state office of Child protection Network where his organisation informed the state Government through the ministry of women, children Affairs and social Development for possible repratration  of the Boy back to the state

Alh Bachiri Sarkin Fulani added that Governor Bello Matawalle responded quickly and took front action in rescueing the boy in order to reunite him with his parents.


The Zamfara state coordinator of Child protection Network added that the efforts of the organisation in ensuring possible and safe return of Fatihu Muhammed Tukur was coordinated rapidly with the support of the state Government, and other stakeholders both in Mali and Nigeria.


Receiving the Boy, Governor Bello Muhammed Matawallen Maradun expressed appreciation with the support of Zamfara state Child protection Network for ensuring the safe return of Fatihu Muhammed Tukur of Kaura Namoda local Government.


The Governor who expressed dismay about the attitude of some parents who takes their children to abroad in the name of Islamic studies without having adequate arrangements for their stay.

He said the trend is contributing immensely in poor upbringing of children and at the same time resulted in breeding social vices by the children instead of being educated.


Governor Bello Matawalle directed for the proper counseling of the boy in order to ascertain his health status before he was reunited with his parents.

The Shettiman Sokoto pledged to support  the boy to pursue both western and Islamic Education.


Governor Bello Matawalle called on parents and guardians in the state to ensure proper upbringing of their children and to avoid taking them abroad or other towns, instead they should be giving education at home for them to become useful to themselves and the society.

Earlier, the state commissioner of women, children Affairs and social Development Hajiya Zainab Lawal Gummi said Fatihu was taken to Kaulaha, Senegal by his father's elder brother for pursuance of Islamic knowledge. 


According to her, Fatihu was not comfortable with the school and the situation he found himself, hence the need   for his action of migrating to Mali.
