... Ikpeazu Charges New President Of The Abia State Customary Court of Appeal

     

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has sworn in Honorable Justice Stella Maris Chinedum Ururuka Onyenso as the substantive President of the Abia State Customary Court of Appeal with a charge for her to protect the vulnerable and voiceless in the discharge of her duties. 

Speaking after the administering of the oaths of office and allegiance on the new President of the State Customary Court of Appeal, 

by the State Solicitor General, Lady Uzoamaka Ikonne at the Government House, Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu stated that the position of the President of the Customary Court of Appeal is a strategic and important one. He emphasized the need for the new President to support the government to get justice done amongst the people of the State. 

Governor Ikpeazu said that efficient justice delivery in the State and Nigeria at a time like has become very crucial and expressed the hope that the new President will discharge her duties creditably and appealed to her colleagues to support her to succeed and congratulated her on her appointment. The Governor restated his confidence in her abilities judging by her rich pedigree and wide experience in the Judiciary which culminated in her emergence to this strategic and important position in the State Judiciary. 


In her acceptance speech, the new President of the Abia State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Stella Maris Chinedum Ururuka Onyenso thanked the Governor for the honour done her. 

She promised to abide by the oath of her office and assured that she would improve on the Customary Court of Appeal system in the State, while calling for the cooperation of her colleagues to achieve the needed success. 


It could be recalled that Justice  Onyenso has been holding the office in an acting capacity prior to her confirmation by both the National Judicial Council and the Abia State House of Assembly.


Deputy Governor Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the State Chief Judge, Justice Onuoha Ogwe, State Head of Service, Sir Onyi Wamah, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr ACB Agbazuere, Honorable Judges of the State Judiciary, legal practitioners and family members of the new President were amongst others who witnessed the event.
