Serve God Sacrificially: Banigo Urges Christians

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has urged Christians not to be afraid to serve God sacrificially.

Dr. Banigo stated this during a courtesy visit by a delegation of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Rivers and Bayelsa Field, at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, 16th February, 2021.

The Deputy Governor who applauded the Bible Society of Nigeria for the printing and distribution of Bibles into different languages in our schools, churches and offices said although it is not an easy job the Almighty God would reward them appropriately.

“It is the work of God you are doing and the reward will always come from God, one way or the other, He said we should give and He will cause men to give unto thee, pressed down. God will cause men to give unto you, so you do not need to be afraid to serve God sacrificially, for what you are doing is a sacrificial service to God and God knows how He will reward you.

I want to encourage you not to stop this work you are doing, because the word of God is spirit and is life”. The Deputy Governor stressed.

Dr. Banigo who expressed the need for children to be exposed to the word of God early in life, disclosed that she gave her life to Christ, in Secondary School at a Scripture Union Meeting in Queens College Yaba, Lagos, at a tender age.

“The word of God is very vial and we should get it to our children in secondary schools, let each child own a Bible that they can read and understand, we need to inculcate the habit of reading the bible to our children and to let them know that the Bible will bring them closer to their destiny, if you are looking for direction, and the purpose and the will of God for your life, the place to find it is in the Bible, we cannot over emphasise the need to have Bibles, in our schools.” Dr. Banigo further stressed.

The Deputy Governor who assured the Bible Society of Nigeria, of Governor Wike’s readiness to support them in the work of God said, “I know that our Governor is someone who loves the Bible, he loves the work of God, you know he has always declared that Rivers State is a 100% Christian State without apologies, he says it as it is, he is a supporter of Christian work and believes so much that power comes from God.

He believes that it is only God that can promote and install people into positions of authority because authority comes from God and as we are in positions given to us by the Almighty God, we are like Ministers of the Lord, so we have to give account of what God has called us to do, so he will be very delighted, he is always ready to identify with the work of the kingdom in Rivers State and of course you know that this Government is based on the fear of God and not the fear of man”.

In his remarks the Chairman, Bible Society of Nigeria, Rivers and Bayelsa Field Elder Omoni Ayo Tamuno informed the Deputy Governor that the Bible Society of Nigeria is a non-profit making, Non-Governmental Organization saddled with the responsibility of translating, distributing and printing of the Bible, adding that his organization works for all denominations in Nigeria.

He said there are 500 languages in Nigeria and the Bible has only been translated into 26 languages, while 10 languages are at various stages of completion.
