Ikpeazu Inspects Ovom Mechanic and Motor Spare Parts Industrial Cluster Building Construction


...Says After 31st May 2021, It Will be Illegal For Any Mechanic to Operate On Road Side in Aba

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has given mechanics and motor spare parts  dealers doing business in the streets of Aba till the 31st of May this year to move into the Ovom Mechanic and Motor Spare Parts Industrial Cluster.

Governor Ikpeazu gave the directive after inspecting the progress of work at the Ovom Mechanic and Motor Spare Parts Industrial Cluster, Aba under construction. He said it will be impossible and illegal for the traders to continue to do business on the streets of Aba at the expiration of the deadline. He noted that the greatest enemy of the newly constructed roads are mechanics and dealers on spare parts who mess up the roads with engine oil, fuel and other lubricants which reduce the life span of roads.

The Governor, who said that he was satisfied with the pace and quality of work on the cluster said the plan is to provide a place where traders and their customers would do business freely. He announced that his administration is working hard to provide conducive business environment for the traders and spare parts dealers, pointing out that the industrial cluster will be provided with facilities such as Police post, Fire Station and banks designed to make life easier for traders and their customers.


The Governor further disclosed that expansion work has started on Opobo junction while government was working hard to realize Ngwa Road through Emelogu street and assured that government will do all to make the cluster functional.




Conducting the Governor round the cluster, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Rev. Mba Emeh said that over 800 shops have been completed out of the proposed 4,000 shops at the cluster. He announced that the cluster would be ready for commissioning by 31st of May this year. 
The Permanent Secretary, who disclosed that the project is a private public partnership initiative said that with the pace of work, the project would be realised within the stipulated time. 
Speaking also, the Traditional Ruler of Isiala Ovom Autonomous Community, Eze Emmanuel Otete thanked the Governor for sitting the industrial cluster in his community and assured of the support of his subjects to ensure the project is realised.
