Gov. Bala Wants Dangote Foundation to Invest in Bauchi State
The Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, has appealed to the Dangote Foundation to invest in Bauchi State, explaining that the state has a lot of potentials waiting for credible investors.
The governor stated that Dangote has been adding value and improving the quality of lives of Nigerians.
Governor Bala said this at the Government House, Bauchi while receiving the Executive Director of Aliko Dangote Foundation , Engineer Monsur Ahmed, who led a delegation of executives of the foundation to Bauchi.
The Bauchi State governor stated that the gesture by the foundation to support vulnerable women in the country shows that Dangote is the beacon of hope which he has shown by his pedigree and antecedents.
"He has shown it by mere pedigree and his antecedent as a person who has really excelled in the area of business and commerce. And of course, lending support in terms of empowerment to the less privileged is there for everybody to see."
"He is not by this initiative only building institutions, like education and health all over the world, but also going down to the vulnerable groups, our mothers, our sisters, the informal sector that is keeping Nigeria and putting food on the table."
"If they don't go to school, it is the mother, if they don't eat, it is the mother, if they don't dress well, it is still the mother and with our polygamous background, what Dangote is doing is going to add a lot of value and improve the quality of lives of our people," Gov. Mohammed said.
He therefore appealed to Dangote Group to come and invest in Bauchi State, saying that the state has a lot of potentials waiting to be harnessed by credible investors.
"We know the pedigree and capacity of Dangote group, what they set out to do, they do it scientifically and systematically. So I am pleading with you to come and look at what we have here. We have peace in Bauchi and your investment will be protected in Bauchi because it's the most peaceful state in Northern Nigeria," he said.
On his part, Monsur Ahmed, The Group Executive Director, Dangote Foundation said that the aim of empowerment initiative for women in the state was to extend a sense of partnership to the state government and give women a sense of belonging as they are contributors of Dangote's success in the country.
He said that through out the period of the initiative, eighty percent of women that received the grant, have extended their businesses, empowered their families and improved their source of income.
