Ortom Acknowledges NSCDC's Contribution To Fight Against Insecurity

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has acknowledged the contributions of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC to the fight against insecurity in the State.

Governor Ortom who spoke today when he received the newly deployed state Commandant of the NSCDC, Philip Okoh at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi on a courtesy call said the Agro Rangers of the formation had distinguished itself in the fight against banditory and criminality.


While welcoming the commandant to Benue, Governor Ortom pledged his administration's sustained support to the corps and all security agents to enable them discharge their duties effectively.


The NSCDC Commandant, Philip Okoh in a remark said his mission in Benue was to ensure peace in the state and appealed for government support in the training of additional personnel in armed handling for better output.


Mr Okoh stated that the training was in line with the renewed policy of the Commandant General to restructure and reposition the Corps to deliver on its mandate of protecting lives and property.


He also solicited support through renovation of a dilapidated structure at the permanent official complex of the command to accommodate more officers, even as he requested for more operational vehicles for ease of movement.
