Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has urged people of the state to support Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs with financial and material assistance to make life bearable for them.

The Governor made the call Thursday, 11th November, 2021 while addressing the 2021 NKST Synod at Mkar, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.

He disclosed that the over 1.5 million IDPs who are staying in official and makeshift camps across the state need support in terms of clothing, food among others to alleviate their sufferings.

The Governor who enjoined Christians to sustain prayers for leaders in the country in order to lead in the right direction, said as a person, he will continue to stand for justice, equity and fairness.

President NKST Worldwide, Reverend Dominic Anza, commended the Governor for firmly resisting the takeover of the state by herdsmen as well as his assent to the amended Community Volunteer Guards Law.
Rev. Anza expressed worry on the number of governorship aspirants in the state, but appealed to Governor Ortom to ensure that only someone with the same passion to sustain the fight against the Fulani invasion of the state should be supported.
