Gov Ishaku Inaugurates Taskforce on Counter Human Trafficking...

... describes the menace as deadliest evil against humanity

Taraba State Governor, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku has described human trafficking as the deadliest human evil and called for comprehensive and consistent action to stop it.

Governor Ishaku made this call on Tuesday in Government House Jalingo when he inaugurated the state's Task Force Committee on Counter Trafficking of Persons.

He said through human trafficking the future of thousands of young people have been ruined and noted that it is also inhuman for those in a position to help check the crime to remain aloof.

Gov Ishaku said the task force was set up to enhance a comprehensive and coordinated action against this new form of slave trade and urged the members of the task force to commit themselves to the assignment as if it's their primary paid job.

He also urged members to help activate and coordinate inter-agency actions against human trafficking.

He said: "Let's do much more to bring this evil trade to the barest minimum. We must do better to protect victims and prosecute those involved in this evil of human trafficking"

He also spoke on the fate of the 82 trafficked children rescued by his administration and who are currently being housed and catered for by the administration.

He assured that the children will not lack anything they require to live normal lives even after his administration has left the stage.

He urged Nigerians who are in a position to help save trafficked persons to do so, even if doing so is for zero monetary reward.

Earlier the State's Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Sam Ada said human trafficking was against the will of God who created man free.

He described the practice and persistence of  human trafficking as prove of man's unrepentant act of disobedience.

Barr Sam Ada is the chairman of the 27-memberTask Force for Taraba State.
